A GUIDE of bike rides along Westbury White Horse and throughout Wiltshire, Mark Malcolm, is taking part in the 31st Dartmoor Jailbreak on 26th April to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Mark, who lived in Westbury prior to joining the Armed Forces in 1992, was educated at Matravers School and now organises bike rides as part of his business Headz or Trailz based in Trowbridge.
For the Dartmoor Jailbreak Mark, along with a friend from Trowbridge, will be ‘escaping’ from Dartmoor Prison and attempting to make his way back to Trowbridge in 1980s fancy dress, utilising a Raleigh Grifter and a Raleigh Chopper.
The event is organised and run by Vranch, an Exeter children’s hospice charity, who will receive half the money raised and the other half will be donated to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance which will be Headz or Trailz’ main charity organisation. This is the first of many planned events Mark will be taking part in and the next in the calendar will be the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Sarsen Trail event.
Headz or Trailz offers guided cycle rides in and around Westbury. Mark said, “I am utilising many routes around the Wiltshire area including the Wylye Valley, Marlborough Downs and Longleat Forest and one of the rides encompasses a start point in Bratton and climbs the White Horse before heading off along the Range Road to Erlestoke and loops around the area before returning through Edington and back to Bratton.
“I am also looking to be utilising the Leighton Recreation Centre as a start point for a planned reduced distance ride (approximately one hour) up onto the Salisbury Plain hill side, following the bridleway through the White Scar Hanging wood line.”
