CYGNETS Pre-School in Westbury has marked the new year by unveiling a new community-accessible defibrillator.

The device, which is specially equipped for both adult and paediatric emergencies, has been jointly funded by donations to a Cygnets crowdfunding appeal and a generous contribution from Westbury Lions.
The defibrillator is located just outside the entrance to Cygnets and was unveiled on 6th January by Tracy Sheppard, vice president of Westbury Lions, accompanied by staff and children from the pre-school.
Emma Osmond, manager of Cygnets, said “We are really grateful to Westbury Lions for giving our fundraising the boost it needed to ensure the defibrillator could be weather-proofed and therefore made available to the wider community. This is an essential, life-saving piece of equipment and it was really important to us that it should be accessible not just to us as a pre-school but to people and families living nearby in case of an emergency.
“Not all devices are equipped to be used on children and the more that are available in the community, the better chance patients will have when it really matters.”
Speaking on behalf of Westbury Lions, Tracy Sheppard commented: “The Westbury Lions are very proud to have helped Cygnets Pre-School with this project and it is a very worthy cause for our community.
“Everything the Westbury Lions do is to better the local community and we will continue to offer support as long as it is need. Who knows, there may even be some future Leos and Lions among the children at Cygnets!”
