THE West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group’s 18th annual railway show was held in Westbury on Saturday 11th November.
Rod Towler, deputy group organiser said, “Despite the inclement weather, well over 225 people attended the show. The atmosphere inside the hall was very positive with lots of smiling faces, watching the various high quality layouts representing the popular scales.
“Keith Wareham’s Gauge 0 Test Track was very attracted a lot of attention with scale length nine and ten coach trains running at line speed for several circuits. The visitors were able to sit at the layout with their teas, coffee, sandwiches and buns. This proved very popular. So much so, that at times all seats were taken.
“This year the number of younger visitors to the show increased and they were particularly interested in Ashley Jones’ Scalextric on the stage. The young visitors were invited to control the racing cars, with much excitement.
“The other layouts were, Margate Road, Cotehele Quay, Buckleigh, Llantelyddog, Isbury Road, The Longmoor Military Railway, and last but by no means least, the vintage Hornby Dublo 3 rail layout of yesteryear.
“These were ably supported by the demonstrators, Stan and Alan, and The Bristol 0 Gauge Group.
“The traders and bring and buy did a roaring trade judging by the number of happy visitors leaving the show with bulging carriers bags.
“Thanks to Dave at The Gas Cupboard, The Trowbridge Model Shop and Hornby Trains and everyone else, for their donations to the raffle. Thanks also to AM Print and Copy for the wonderful show guide.
“All in all, a great show and the West Wiltshire Gauge Group look forward to inviting everyone back to our next year’s show.”
