A nursery in Westbury has expanded with three new playrooms and improved outdoor spaces, creating more room for children to learn and play.
An empty building next to BebeTots Nursery on Trowbridge Road has been transformed into additional play spaces, designed to allow children to enjoy both indoor and outdoor play in all weather conditions. The expansion, officially opened on 10th March, has created an extra 52 early years places.
Nursery owner Jennifer Morris said, “The children were delighted when we told them the work was going to be finished. They’ve been watching it over the last year and were really excited. It’s been a real boost for all of us, and the official opening went really well—it was lovely to have some of the children join us.
“The nursery used to be over two floors, and each playroom had limited access to the garden, but now all the children can access the space, which is really exciting.”
The new playrooms feature slides, seating areas, and wooden toys, while the outdoor space has been upgraded with racetrack markings and play equipment.
BebeTots Nursery was founded by Jennifer in January 2016 after she recognised a ‘vast demand’ for childcare in Westbury. As the nursery approaches its 10th anniversary next year, she hopes to carry out further improvements.
“Our next aim is to redevelop the older part of the nursery with new doors and windows to bring in more light, similar to the new rooms,” she said. “We’re also looking to develop a sensory room, as we support a number of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). All the children will be able to benefit from the sensory room, which should be really special.”
The expansion was funded by £136,000 from Wiltshire Council’s Early Years Capital Expansion Grant and £165,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Invest in Wiltshire scheme.
