PLANS for an open air market in Westbury are still in the pipeline, but although feedback to a survey last year was positive, there are no indications as to when a market might start in the town.
Wiltshire Council is working on expanding markets in towns across the county, and residents have been asked if they would like to see a market come to Westbury.
An online and paper consultation, which closed in June 2012, asked people’s opinions on whether they would use a market, how frequent it would need to be, and what products they would like to see.
Wiltshire Council says the survey of Westbury residents showed Westbury residents were strongly in support of a weekly market.
A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said, “We are very keen to support the development of new outdoor markets across the county and Westbury is an area we’re looking at. Early discussions have taken place about this and the signs are positive that it will happen.”
