Westbury residents are gearing up to enjoy homegrown produce after this year’s fruit tree giveaway by Westbury Town Council.
The council offered 30 free fruit trees, including pear, plum and fig varieties, as part of its ongoing initiative to promote sustainable gardening and healthy living.
The offer, which has been a hit in previous years, was met with enthusiasm once again, with all trees claimed on a first-come, first-served basis. Last month saw eager residents collecting their trees from The Laverton, ready to plant them in their gardens.
“We’re delighted to continue this popular giveaway,” said Jason Webster, the town council’s media and communications administrator. “The response from the community has been wonderful, and we look forward to seeing these trees flourish in local gardens and provide fresh fruit for years to come.”
