THE Rotary Club of Westbury have raised £1,036.67 for the Ukrainian refugee crisis thanks to the incredible generosity of Westbury residents. Rotary members stood outside the Morrison supermarket in town for hours on Saturday 12th March and managed to raise their biggest ever charitable collection since the club started.

Organisers said, “A cold wind was blowing but the sun was shining and the people of Westbury were in good and generous mood and incredibly supportive.
“We have been undertaking collections for worthy causes ever since the club started, and none of those collecting had ever witnessed such generosity before, with people literally running up and forcing large notes into the collecting buckets. In total members collected £1,036.67 (around four times the sums normally expect to collected).
“This money will go to Rotary Club Districts in the ‘refugee zone’ (Poland, Slovakia, Romania & Moldova) so that it can be used directly on the ground to assist refugees from the war fleeing into those areas.
“The Rotary Club of Westbury would like to thank Morrisons customers for their generosity to this collection.”
