The Westbury and District Link Scheme is the busiest local voluntary network, with more than 40 volunteers, driving people to hospital and doctors’ appointments, taking people shopping and collecting prescriptions and library books.
John Adams, on behalf of the Link Scheme reported, “Last year our volunteer drivers covered almost 50,000 miles, making our local scheme one of the most in demand and active in the whole of Wiltshire.
“Recently all of the volunteer drivers took part in a valuable training session which included guidance on manual handling, best practice in manoeuvring wheelchairs and emergency first-aid resuscitation. The resuscitation training was expertly and generously freely carried out by Nigel Inseal of EFA Training Limited – our own local first aid training provider.
“Link volunteers are justly proud of their tremendous service to the local community. They are exemplary ‘Good Neighbours.’ If you have a few hours spare each week then why not join them? Volunteering is good for you!”
