A WESTBURY couple are hoping their spectacular Christmas lights display will warmly welcome in Christmas and spur residents into donating to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Andy Burden and his partner Donna, decorate their house in Christmas lights every year for a different charity – and this year is no different, as he has selected Wiltshire Air Ambulance as his charity of choice.
The house can be spotted on the corner of Coach Lane, at the exit of the A350 for the White Horse Country Park, on the Trowbridge side of Westbury.
Andy said, “When my daughter was very young, the Air Ambulance saved her life when they rushed her to RUH.
“One of the lads that works for me at All Drainage, his granddad was airlifted by the Air Ambulance, so it’s definitely a cause that hits close to home, and we just want to give back to a charity that has done so much for us.
“My partner, Donna, also works for the NHS, so with Covid and all the pressures the NHS has come under, we felt that supporting this charity was the least we could do.
“Donna worked at the RUH during peak Covid times and she now rehabilitates those in need in our community – so we both sat down and had a thought about how we could help out the Air Ambulance as they are such a valuable asset to the community. I had a meeting with the Air Ambulance fundraisers as well, so I’ve got some banners ready to go up outside the house, flying the flag, and some collection boxes and buckets for people to physically donate to the cause. We’ve got collection pots for the Air Ambulance in the Ludlow Arms, Mor- risons and Tesco Express, just so we can get as many people to donate as we possibly can.”
Andy and Donna have asked for physical donations to made at either the collection boxes listed above, or at their collection letter box outside their house.
Andy put on a spectacular lights show outside his house last year, but many Westbury residents missed out on seeing the festive celebrations due to lockdown restrictions. He is hoping that this year, people will get the chance to experience the lights themselves.
