Westbury Shed continued to forge ties with local community-minded groups at the inaugural, Lackham Flower Festival earlier this month, with ‘Shed enthusiast’ Toby Buckland from BBC Gardeners World & RHS, Chelsea Flower Show in attendance as a guest judge.
The free event showcased the work of the horticultural students at Lackham College.
Dan Gmaj, Westbury Shed chairman said, “Many local community groups and local stallholders were sharing in this new and exciting event in the fine grounds surrounding Lackham House and it’s fabulous walled garden. Livestock were also in evidence and many fine plants, local produce and crafts too, were on sale to the public.
“Festival organiser, Aldetha Raymond, who is also a lecturer at the college, put together a fine show in a very short time with her amazing team, who truly deserved the perfect ‘sunshiny day’ that was the icing on the many cakes that were also available!
“Westbury Shed were proud to unveil their new information station to spread the word about Shed groups that are springing up all over the UK.
“A few ‘Shed-made’ items were also available for a small donation.
“Westbury Shed, which is hoping to bring the ‘Pop-Up-Shed’ to the Westbury Street Fair on the 9th of July, also has a monthly public meeting, a workshop facility about to open, and twice-weekly member sessions at its developing ‘wheelchair friendly’ allotment.”
