The team at Westbury railway station has been awarded Exemplar Gold accreditation for its customer service, community work and charitable activity.
Westbury is the first station team in Great Western Railway’s (GWR) central region to achieve Gold status.
GWR director of customer services Rachel Geliamassi said, “The award reflects the team’s commitment to continuous improvement, strong community partnerships, charitable activity and a positive team culture.
“Recent improvements to the station waiting room have enhanced the customer experience, providing visitors with improved facilities and greater comfort while using the station.”
Mayor Carole King, Cllr Gordon King, duty station manager Jo Frayling and two other station staff members were invited to tour the stations at Westbury, Castle Cary and Trowbridge before attending an Exemplar Project presentation, where Westbury station recently received the award.
Mayor Carole King said, “We greatly enjoyed meeting and interacting with the GWR team. We saw great examples of their improvements to the waiting rooms and facilities in their stations and to the work of the volunteers who add to the customer experience with gardens and artwork.
“We thank GWR for inviting us to hear about their exciting scheme and for their presentation which ended with the Westbury team being presented with a Gold Exemplar certificate which was well deserved.”
