THE people of Westbury have once again shown their support for the town’s Poppy Appeal donating over £7,000 this year with money still coming in.
Bill Prior, Poppy Appeal organiser for Westbury said, “It has been another great year for the Poppy Appeal and we are very pleased with money raised so far.
“There have been other things going on in the last few months that the people of Westbury have been supporting, like the Syrian refugee crisis and the fundraising for the young boy Alexander Vinson from Dilton Marsh. But despite this, people have still supported the Poppy Appeal which is brilliant.
“We would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards the appeal and to all the volunteers for their time. We are very grateful.
“All the funds raised go towards health and welfare support for ex-service people and their families; it’s one way we show our appreciation for the way they have helped keep us safe.”
