Westbury Town Council is raising the Commonwealth Flag for the first time at the War Memorial on Monday 9th March at 10.00am.
A specially written Commonwealth Affirmation will be read out at the ceremony by the Mayor Mrs. Christine Mitchell.
The town will join others around the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries in raising 730 Commonwealth Flags.
His Excellency Kamalesh Sharma Secretary-General of the Commonwealth said, “Flying a flag for the Commonwealth is a most imaginative way for people in local communities, wherever they live, learn or work, to join others throughout the Commonwealth in a spirit of respect and understanding to celebrate the variety of unmatched diversity of our global family.”
