ONCE again, Westbury’s Summer Celebration has been hailed a huge success after crowds of people filled the town centre for the street fayre and evening concert.
The popular summer event, organised by Westbury Town Council and local organisations, took place on Saturday 9th July and provided an exciting line-up of entertainment.
There were food and drink stalls, a fun fair, a miniature railway, a fun dog show, a ballon artist and much more. The entertainment continued into the evening with live music featuring the UK’s number one Madness tribute act, Complete Madness, who went down a storm with the crowds.
Mayor of Westbury, cllr Stephen Andrews said, “The whole event went excellently well and the turn out for both the daytime event and the evening concert was fantastic.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to said they had a great time and thought it was a brilliant event for the town.
“The Space Ball and Hanger 51 were especially enjoyed by the children and the music at the concert was excellent.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the events working group for all their hard work. They were setting up from 6.30am on Saturday morning to the early hours of Sunday morning clearing away. Without their efforts, it wouldn’t have been possible.
“Also thank you to everyone who came along to support the event, I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did.
“We always try to find new and exciting ideas for each event so we now look forward to what the 2018 Summer Celebration holds.”
Events coordinator at Westbury Town Council Verity Bartlett said, “Everything went really well and overall it was a huge success. I hope the people of Westbury enjoyed themselves.
“It was a lovely sunny day and the streets were packed all day, which was brilliant. All the entertainment was fantastic and the evening concert was great. Thank you to everyone who came along. It really shows that Westbury can put on a big event, but only when we have the support from people. And thank you to the residents and local traders for their understanding. Without their support, the event wouldn’t be able to go ahead, so thank you to them.
“If anyone has any suggestions on how we could improve on what we did, then we would like to hear from you.”
