WESTBURY and District u3a members learned more about the wildlife conservation charity, the Born Free Foundation, following Dawn Lawrence giving a talk on the subject on Tuesday 14th March.
A u3a spokesperson said, “The talk about the Born Free Foundation was very interesting- remember Elsa the Lion? Founded by Virginia McKenna, Will Travers and Bill Travers, the Foundation works tirelessly to stop the exploitation and suffering of individual animals living in captivity or in the wild.
“From the start, they have campaigned for a future where animals and people can co-exist and where threatened and endangered species are protected for generations to come, and kept in the wild as opposed to zoos, etc.”
Westbury u3a’s next meeting will be on Tuesday 11th April at 2pm and will be by Lily Munday who will be talking about the local glove industry at the Westbury URC Hall, Warminster Rd, Westbury BA13 3PJ. Park at rear, off The Butts via Hospital Road. £2 payable on entry. Prospective new members pay no admission on the first visit.
