Westbury United Football Club is proud to announce that it has entered into a partnership with the cancer charity, Hope for Tomorrow.
Hope for Tomorrow is a dedicated charity, bringing cancer care closer to patients’ homes via their mobile cancer care units (MCCUs).
Westbury United chairman, Greg Coulson said, “This is a great charity, providing a fantastic service to the people of Westbury and the surrounding area. When they contacted us, we jumped at the chance to help. For us as the town’s primary sports team to be linked with a charity, who make a tangible difference to our local community, is a no-brainer. This is an exciting time and we’re looking forward to hosting events and helping Hope for Tomorrow to raise the much-needed funds to keep providing an excellent service to our town”.
Hope for Tomorrow launched the world’s first ever mobile cancer care unit in 2007 (previously mobile chemotherapy unit) to bring vital cancer care closer to patients, enabling them to spend more time with family, friends and loved ones.
They develop, build, provide and maintain MCCUs to support patients who are going through chemotherapy by alleviating the stresses and strains of travelling for appointments, along with reducing hospital waiting times.
They work in a unique partnership with the NHS, helping to ease capacity challenges at hospital trusts. In Wiltshire there is a MCCU that operates from Salisbury Pembroke Unit; the MCCU, named Kayleigh, visits Westbury every week on a Thursday.
Since the launch of the first mobile cancer care unit in 2007, the charity has saved patients a total of over 2.5million miles and over 200,000 hours of travel and waiting time.
The charity won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – Innovation, in 2016. The award is the UK’s highest accolade for business success, and was made in recognition of their achievements since the founder, Christine Mills MBE, set up Hope for Tomorrow in 2003.

“Together we can make a huge difference to Westbury’s community, enabling Hope for Tomorrow to bring cancer care closer to more patients’ homes in 2019 and beyond.
“Since 2012, our South Wiltshire Mobile Cancer Care Unit has visited Westbury once a week, costing Hope for Tomorrow £198 per day to run this vital service. With Westbury United’s help, we can reach out to many more patients in the New Year.”
