23 Westbury Walkers left Bradford on Avon for an eight mile walk led by Teressa and Brian Mitchard on Sunday 9th November.
The day fortunately turned out to be bright and sunny after such a wet Saturday.
The group set off along the canal to Avoncliff with the smell of smoke from the fire of the canal boats hanging in the air. At the Cross Guns public house they walked under the aqueduct to follow the river path through woods and fields to Freshford. Here they stopped for a two minute silence for Remembrance Day.
From Freshford they continued to the railway station where they crossed the bridge and followed the path to Limpley Stoke. At the bottom of Winsley Hill, they took the path through the field and back onto the canal towpath. From here they continued until they reached the arched stone bridge which they crossed and then followed the field path to the left and made the steep climb up to Murhill and then on to Winsley.
After lunch it was downhill all the way back to Bradford on Avon via Turley and Avoncliff along a very muddy river path.
