WESTBURY Youth FC u14s team, the Westbury Wanderers, have been crowned league champions following a 5-1 win over Warminster’s Highbury u14s.
The players celebrated in style with friends and family singing the boys praises while the players received their trophy.
Simon Lamdin, the assistant manager and head coach said, “I am so proud of all the lads! They have worked so hard this season and deserved their special night under the lights and with all their family and friends there and to see them win the league and lift the trophy!
“Their development over the years has been so rewarding for the coaching staff, especially as the lads missed so much time during covid lockdown (as like many others, we had to close). My only sadness was Ryan Dawes, Mitchell Lamdin and Wes Heath got injured during the game and had injuries so could not properly join in with the celebrations at the end.
“I would also like to mention Aaron Whiting who is the manager and chairman and does so much work; he has made a huge difference to Westbury Youth FC and without him we would not be where we are today as a club.
“Aaron does the paperwork side and organises games and referees as well as getting grants for our club to help with things like security, fencing and even new goals.
“Next season we will either play in the North Wilts League which includes Swindon teams or possibly the Somerset League which will be against some very good teams, but Aaron and myself will discuss this over the next couple of weeks.
“If you have a child that would like to join our club, then please come down to Redland Lane in Westbury all week and one of our coaches will be happy to help.
