OVER 6,000 people have viewed Westbury’s online Christmas celebrations.
Instead of the traditional Christmas lights switch-on in the town, a special film was created featuring a whole host of familiar local faces.
The climax to the magical comedy drama film, which was premiered online on Saturday 28th November, featured the Mayor’s Christmas Card competition winner, Evie Turner, switching on the town’s festive lights.
Westbury Town Council’s events manager, Ryan Child, reports, “The town took a collective sigh of relief last weekend as the Christmas switch-on button was found and Westbury was illuminated with its traditional lights.
“The whole magical journey was caught on film and is still available on the Westbury Town Council website and the ‘Christmas in Westbury’ facebook page. It was touch a go for a while, but luckily residents from across the town pulled together to find the magical Christmas lights switch-on button!”
This magical comedy drama follows the story of Westbury Town Council events manager ‘Ryan’ as he battles to save Christmas. The film’s innovative screenplay, adorned with music, art, dance and drama, ties together a labyrinthine virtual journey with the real life switch on Saturday 28th November.
“Think Spielberg meets David Walliams all wrapped up in a local magical mystery!” – a Christmas in Westbury spokesperson said.
“The production features a cast and crew of more than 100 people from the Westbury community.
“The soundtrack features music from AJ Pople, Phil Cooper, Cley Hill Stompers, Kirsty Clinch and students from Matravers School.”
