The Horse and Groom will re-open on Good Friday, with its new owner pledging to offer a ‘country pub in the town’.
Although the pub will offer a bar area, it will concentrate on offering simple but good restaurant food, that is affordable for local families.
Bob Musker, who has spent all his life in the pub trade, has taken the pub over and says it has plenty of potential.
He said, “Westbury is well catered for in the pub sector with some fantastic venues; what we want to do is provide a family friendly restaurant, bar and of course our wonderful garden. Westbury is a great little town, which ticks all the right boxes for our business.”
Substantial refurbishment has transformed the interior into a stylish family restaurant and a traditional country pub.
One of the pub’s assets is its peaceful and spacious garden with its babbling brook and even its very own kingfisher.
Bob said, “We felt it looked like a country pub in the town, so we’ve tried to develop that and brought the country pub indoors as well, with things like wood burners and cosy furnishings.
“We’re going to have a menu for the pub and garden and a restaurant menu which will include steaks and Sunday roasts. It’s not fancy food, but well-cooked and well-presented.”
The Horse and Groom will open on Good Friday and will be open over the Easter weekend. The bar will be open seven days a week and food served lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Sunday. For more details call 01373 859433.
