FOLLOWING an appeal in White Horse News for volunteers at a dementia cafe in Westbury half a dozen people responded.
At the Memory Cafe at Grassacres Hall people can find out more about dementia and the help available, meet with others in a similar situation and enjoy a pleasant social outing.
Our article described how volunteers offer a warm welcome, engaging and supporting members in conversations and also assist with setting up, preparing/serving refreshments and help to tidy away at the end of the cafe.
Annie Clayton from Alzheimer’s Wiltshire contacted us, saying, “We have had half dozen people contact us as a result of seeing the piece in your paper, so it’s been excellent exposure for us.
“Many thanks again and keep up the good work”.
The role is a rewarding one in a team of committed volunteers and ongoing support and training in dementia awareness is offered. For more information visit www. alzheimerswiltshire.org.uk
