POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old girl was assaulted in an unprovoked attack in Westbury.
They say, “The incident happened in an alleyway between Oldfield Park and Eden Vale Road on Sunday 25th November at around 9pm.
“Following the assault, the offender ran off towards Eden Vale Road.
“The suspect is described as a white man, of slim build, around 5ft 5ins tall and wearing a black hoody with grey or black jogging bottoms.”
Community co-ordinator PC Lee Pelling, from Wiltshire West Community Policing Team said, “This was a frightening attack on an innocent young girl walking home in Westbury.
“She was punched and kicked during the assault, which appears to have been a random, unprovoked attack. Luckily, she wasn’t seriously hurt, but has obviously been left upset by what happened.
“I want to reassure people that this type of incident is very rare and it is something we are taking seriously. We have been carrying out extensive enquiries, including house-to-house and looking through CCTV footage.
“We now want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something suspicious.”
