Witness appeal after aggravated burglary

Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Westbury.

The incident happened between 6.30pm and 7pm on Monday 9th January at an address in Percheron Place.

A group of four men called at the address, before forcing their way in and assaulting a male occupant. Fortunately, he did not sustain any serious injury.

The men then stole a number of items of jewellery, including gold rings, gold necklaces and five gold bracelets, as well as cash from the premises.

One of the men is described as being approximately 5ft 6inches tall, of medium build. A second man is described as being 6ft tall, of slim build. He was wearing a baseball cap with a hooded top and a scarf covering his face.

Some of the men are believed to have spoken with Irish accents.

DC Cerys Powell said, “This was a very frightening incident for the victim, who was assaulted by the men as they forced their way into the house. Luckily, he was not injured but he was understandably left very shaken up.

“All of the men are believed to have been wearing dark clothes, with their faces covered.

“We are carrying out a thorough and robust investigation into this incident, including house-to-house enquiries and analysing CCTV footage. We’d like to appeal to anyone who saw a group of males in the area between 6.30pm and 7.15pm to please get in touch. You may have vital information.”
