WESTBURY runners joined thousands of people across the country to take part in a 3.2 run for Help The Heroes, in memory of Captain David Seath who died whilst running the London Marathon last month.
Cpt Seath collapsed and died 3.2 miles from the finish at the London Marathon in April and since then, over £100,000 has been raised for the Help The Heroes, the charity he was running for.
Kim Curtis, Macey James and Alex Laird from Westbury Running Club organised their own run and raised £141.
Kim said, “It was really great and I’m so pleased so many people came along.
“We decided to organise the run after hearing the news about Cpt Seath. This sad news was reported on the news and so the running community came together.
“We at Westbury Running Group are a very social group of people and we knew that our fellow runners would be more than happy to come together to complete the 3.2 miles in memory of this brave man and raise money for a very deserved charity.
“We would like to say a big thank you to Carol and Bob Musker from The Horse and Groom for letting us gather together in their car park beforehand and for the nibbles they provided for afterwards. We donated £20 from the money to their chosen charity Guide Dogs For The Blind as a thank you.
“I would like to thank Macy and Alex for helping me organise the run and to those from Avon Valley Runners who also came along.”
