WESTBURY entrepre-neur Jordan Daykin and his company, GripIt Fixings, have started a ‘Baked Bean Challenge’ to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society after his grandad, Stan, was diagnosed with the condition recently.
Employees at the company, starting with Jordan himself, are filming each other having buckets of cold baked beans tipped over their heads and nominating others to take part and donate to the charity.
Stan, now 81, helped Jordan invent the fixing that has made him the youngest ever person to secure a deal on Dragon’s Den and start a company now worth over £12million.
PA to Jordan, Sophie Newell said, “Jordan’s grandad Stan has played a fundamental part in the business bringing a plethora of engineering experience to product development within the company.
“Last year Stan suffered an amnesia attack, causing him to forget important elements in his life that were close to his heart. This was very frightening for Stan and his family, but Stan did remember Jordan and GripIt.
“In the last year, Stan suffered a further two attacks and he has now been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As a result he has had to step back from the day-to-day side of GripIt. This has been difficult for Stan, who has been so involved from the very beginning.
“Stan will always be an integral part of the GripIt family and we, as a team, ensure that he is always involved.
“All staff are having a bucket of baked beans tipped over their head and nominating three others to participate, as well as texting a donation of their choice to GRIP48 to 70070. We want to get everyone involved and help raise as much money as possible for such a great cause!”
