THE community garden project at Leigh Park Community Centre is open to all young people with special education needs (SEN), for enrolment to learn and contribute towards the community garden.
Community gardens are designed to encourage people to become more socially and physically active and to develop stronger ties to their community and can provide relief from stress and inactive lifestyles.
“The project so far has seen the designing of the community garden and young people have learnt about resourcing and using different materials, plants and vegetables needed to create a sustainable garden,” said centre manager, Debbie Cole. “We also have plans for a community allotment. The progress of the project is on-going, and we welcome all ages to come and participate.”
All young people will need to be supervised and is open to schools, groups and families. To register a young person’s interest email: office@lpccwestbury.org.uk or pop into the office for a registration form. The next meeting is on Friday 11th August at 11am at Leigh Park Community Centre, Leigh Park Way, Westbury, BA13 3FN.
