WESTBURY Lions are planting 700 trees at the White Horse Country Park on Saturday 3rd December and Sunday 4th December – and they’re asking local people to help.
Planting times are during 9am to 3pm but feel free to turn up any time. Car parking for both days will be at the White Horse Viewing Car Park, off Bratton Road, Westbury. Organisers say, “If anyone wanted to come and join us you would be most welcome- we have plenty of trees that need planting.
Each day we are planting different types, so on Saturday we are planting the whips (which would be easier for children to take part in), and on Sunday we will be planting the larger ones.
“Hopefully people can come here in years to come to reflect on the Queen’s service and this can help to serve as a reminder of her efforts. Please bring a personal spade to use if available.”
The trees are all native species and forms as part of the Queens Green Canopy, an initiative set up during the Queens Platinum Jubilee to increase and protect the native tree cover in the UK.
This will be a group effort made up of different community groups in Westbury.
