WESTBURY’S new youth club is getting ready to go and is on the lookout for adult volunteers to help run sessions for young people on Wednesday evenings.
Westbury Local Youth Network will be a youth club run at Leigh Park Community Centre where young people can socialise, take part in activities and learn new skills.
Friendly volunteers are wanted to help run the sessions alongside Wiltshire Council.
Community engagement manager for Westbury, Liam Cripps said, “Without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to provide this fantastic resource for young people. The youth club is much needed and for this project to take off, we need people to come forward.
“The young people are looking for volunteers who are happy to help, lively, cheerful and friendly.
“One week you could be playing football or basketball, the next you could be helping in the tuck shop, playing pool or even helping our young people plan new events.
“If you want to help make a real difference to the lives of many young people in Westbury then this is your chance!
“If you can help us run the youth club at Leigh Park Community Centre, we’ll need you between 4.30pm and 9.00pm on Wednesdays.
“You don’t have to volunteer every week. You can volunteer as much or little as you like. As a minimum though, we’d like our volunteers to support our youth club at least once a month.
“Do something amazing and help us get this project started giving the opportunity for young people in Westbury to socialise.”
Experience is not essential and training will be provided where necessary. A DBS certificate (criminal record check) is required, but the council can cover the cost of the check if volunteers do not hold one.
