A grant of £3,000 has been awarded to Westbury charity Crosspoint by the Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon which administrates the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Fund.
11 projects across Wiltshire and Swindon have each been awarded grants totalling £35,400. The fund is aimed at helping local groups address crime and anti-social behaviour, and improve personal and community security. It raises funds through the sale of unclaimed lost property and makes grants twice a year. The money awarded to Crosspoint will be used for counselling.
Crosspoint treasurer, Len Clift said, “Crosspoint hopes by means of its counselling service to work alongside Wiltshire Police service and other agencies to alleviate problems causes by stress and anxiety. In this way we can all add to the wellbeing of our local community.”
Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon Angus Macpherson said, “I’m very pleased that this fund can support these initiatives, the majority of which seek to challenge anti-social behaviour especially by young people. I continue to believe that community-led projects are the best way of building stronger and safer communities and engaging with, rather than excluding young people from community activities is key to success. “
Other funded projects in Wiltshire include Community First, Seeds4Success, Wiltshire Racial Equality and Youth Adventure Trust.
Crosspoint is based in the Market Place in Westbury. The charity seeks to promote the wellbeing of local residents and contribute to the relief of those in need, irrespective of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race or religion.
