CHRISTMAS will officially arrive in Westbury on Saturday when the town’s festive celebrations make a triumphant post-lockdown return.
Live music, a winter market, Santa’s Grotto, festive food, free children’s activities, a Christmas tree festival and the Big Christmas Lights Switch On are all planned in what organisers say will be ‘a great show for the people of Westbury’.
The event, organised by Westbury Town Council, will be held on Saturday 27th November in the town centre and Market Place, running from 2pm to 7.30pm.
“It’s going to be an absolutely fantastic event!” said mayor Sheila Kimmins. “There will be lots of entertainment for the whole family with live music, lots to eat and drink, a visit from Father Christmas plus lots of stalls with plenty of creative gifts so please do come and buy some Christmas presents.
“And, of course, there will be the switching on of the Christmas lights. This will be by four-year old Ella Lawrence, winner of the my Christmas card competition.”

Live music will begin from 4pm from the main stage in the Market Place, leading up to the Christmas lights switch on at 6.30pm, with music continuing until the event ends.
Acts include the popular Abba tribute band, Abba Rival; the ever-popular local rock n’ roll heroes, The Cleyhill Stompers; the Will Blake Band and PSG – Pop/Soul/Gospel – Choir, also founded by Will Blake seven years ago. The local former Matravers student, Wade Merritt, is also set to light up the stage with his own original tracks.
The Christmas Tree Festival will also be on at All Saints Church (the Festival runs from Friday 26th November through to Monday 29th November.)
