BRATTON Primary School have praised their pupils for competing in an inter-primary school challenge that saw their year 6 students finish in second place.
The month-long competition was organised by Matravers School and saw pupils from across Bratton Primary School, Bitham Brook Primary School, Westbury Leigh Primary School, and Westbury Junior School competing against each other in a variety of different challenges.
A Bratton Primary School spokesperson said, “Our Year 5 and 6 children recently took park in their final inter-school challenge at Matravers School. The theme of this session was science and it was led by Ms Church who works at Matravers School.
“The children were tasked with creating a way of safely landing an egg from a height which included them purchasing materials within a set budget as well as building the design themselves, culminating in a final test at the end of the day. The children came up with some great ideas during their brainstorming session and showed great teamwork, resilience and creative thinking.
“Following this, parents and school staff were invited along to Matravers School to a reward ceremony to celebrate everyone that participated in the inter-school challenges. The children were presented with certificates, rewards and prizes for all the events they took part in over the past month, with the overall cup presented at the end of the evening.
“We are pleased to announce that out of all the schools that took part, our Year 6 Bratton School students finished second place and narrowly missed out on the cup. One of our students was awarded the Year 5 achievement in science award in addition to all of the students receiving certificates for the amazing success! We are very proud of their individual and teamwork achievements, and look forward to taking part again next year!”
