Volunteers at Bratton’s Jubilee Hall have nearly completed a bar renovation, as part of an initiative to give the community space a fresh new look.
Following a project last year to install solar panels at the hall, the team of volunteers who run Bratton’s Jubilee Hall are still working to improve the space, having almost completed the transformation of the bar facilities.
“I am immensely proud of the team who have pulled together this transformation on a really tight budget,” said Cathy Elliott, Chair of the Jubilee Hall Management Committee. “With an increasing number of people using the hall for events of all kinds, our bar facilities were beginning to look a bit dated and tired.
“Originally built for Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in 1887, successive generations of villagers have taken responsibility for keeping the hall in good repair, and we felt the time had come for a refresh to make the hall fit for the future.”
Peter Thomas, who has overseen the project, said, “We are looking forward to putting the new bar through its paces with a packed schedule of events over the coming months.”
Throughout the rest of the year, the hall will host an Annual Skittles Evening on 19th September, a quiz night on 17th October, a festive shopping evening on 27th November, and a St Andrew’s Night Ceilidh on 29th November.
Details of these events, as well as the monthly Big Bratton Breakfast and Community Coffee, Cookies and Chat Café are available on their website, www.brattonjubileehall.info
