HELEN and Greg Bolwell and their barn owl Angel have been attending shows and visiting local groups to fundraise for a number of good causes.
Over the last five years they have supported Bath RUH’s Forever Friends Space to Grow appeal, Trowbridge cyber cafe, Freewheelers EVS, Dorothy House Hospice Care, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Children in Need.
Their most recent fundraiser was at Mole Valley Farmers in Standerwick over the Easter weekend, where they raised £108 for Bath RUH’s neonatal intensive care unit and the hospital’s cancer unit appeal.
The fundraising started when the couple wanted to support Bath RUH’s Forever Friends Space to Grow campaign for the NICU, after their daughter Charlotte died at the age of 23. They chose the appeal because, when she was born, Charlotte spent 16 weeks in the care of the unit. The couple fundraised with their owl Duchess for a number of years, and when she died, Angel came on board.
Helen said, “I don’t know how much we’ve raised, I should keep a running total. But I’ve got some lovely letters here; the charities have sent some really nice letters to say thank you.”
