A community celebration has been held to mark the completion of an energy improvement project at Chapmanslade Village Hall.
The project, which has taken almost a year to complete, includes the installation of solar panels, air-to-air heat source air conditioning units and new ventilation with heat recovery.
The improvements will help maximise the hall’s energy efficiency, reduce its carbon footprint and provide a more comfortable environment for users.
The project was celebrated with a community tea party, where local councillor Bill Parks officially switched on the new system.
Cllr Parks said the project reflected the vision and commitment of the hall’s trustees and would help ensure the facility remained sustainable for the future.
The project was made possible thanks to support from Warminster Area Board and £36,000 in grant funding from Community Infrastructure Levy money managed by Chapmanslade Parish Council, the Platinum Jubilee Village Halls Fund, the Garfield Weston Foundation and The Hills Group through the Landfill Communities Fund, administered by Community First.
Hall committee chair Adam Oakley said, “The trustees are delighted with the new energy system, and its performance so far has exceeded our expectations.
“In addition to the energy benefit, the A/C will enhance the ambient environment within the hall for user comfort, and the energy resilience will help support the hall during power outages as our hall is the community emergency hub.”
