AN ex-Matravers student has raised £1,400 for Parkinson’s UK in a sponsored sky dive.
Simon Vercoe, who was also a cub, air cadet, and member of Westbury Swimming Club, decided to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK as his grandfather has suffered from the disease for nearly 20 years.
Simon, who now lives in Bath, also raised over £600 by running the Bath Half Marathon two years ago.
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition. One person in every 500 has Parkinson’s. That’s about 127,000 people in the UK.
Parkinson’s UK is a support and research charity. It is the largest charity funder of Parkinson’s research in the UK, funding research to advance understanding of Parkinson’s and treatments to make life easier for people living with Parkinson’s.
The charity also offers friendship and support for people with Parkinson’s, and campaigns to make sure people with Parkinson’s are treated fairly with access to the support they need.
