A LOCAL woman is shaving her head for charity, and already has over £1,500 pledged before a single hair is cut.
Shirley Trim is raising money for Breast Cancer Care, and on Saturday 13th September she will have her head shaved at Westbury Conservative Club, from 7.30pm. There will also be music and a raffle with some great prizes to help raise money for the cause.
Matt Banahan, who plays for Bath Rugby and England in international rugby union, will make a guest appearance to help shave Shirley’s hair.
Shirley explained, “Earlier this year, my younger sister found a lump and was soon diagnosed with breast cancer. She is now coming to the end of her chemo and will soon start her course of radiotherapy. She is a star, a very independent woman, and I’m extremely proud of her. To show my support to her and also to my sister-in-law who is recovering from breast cancer, and my best friend who, sadly, lost her battle eight years ago to this dreadful disease, I am shaving my head in a bid to raise as much money as I can to donate to Breast Cancer Care.”
You can support Shirley via www.justgiving.com /Shirley-Trim or come along to the event on the 13th September. Up for auction on 13th will be a signed (by full team) Bath rugby shirt and a pair of John Terry’s football boots.
Raffle prizes include a beauty gift voucher, wine, £50 Ocado voucher, hair and gift sets, a boiler service, spa day for two people, hampers, and much more.
