Pupils from Bratton Primary School will take on a new role as sports ambassadors, promoting physical education and encouraging their peers to get involved in school sports.
Four pupils, voted by their classmates as house captains, attended the Wiltshire Sport Young Ambassador Conference in Trowbridge last month. Accompanied by class teacher and sports lead Mrs Bowden, the children were chosen for their leadership potential and their passion for sport.
The Young Ambassador role is designed to recognise pupils who have the ability to inspire and influence others. As official Young Ambassadors, these four pupils are tasked with promoting the positive values of sport, increasing participation and acting as role models to their fellow students.
Mrs Bowden praised the event, saying the students found the conference to be both inspiring and motivating. “They returned to school ready to promote PE and school sport with a renewed enthusiasm,” she said. She also received glowing feedback from the conference staff, who commended the children for their excellent behaviour and eagerness to try new activities.
One student said, “It was really good meeting new people from other schools who also like sports.”
Another added, “I want to use sports and games to help do some fundraising for new sports equipment that we can all enjoy.”
Mrs Bowden said, “We are blessed with extensive outdoor sporting spaces, green areas, a forest school for more adventurous sporting activities, a trim trail, and even a top-of-the-range indoor climbing area.
“We can’t wait to see what sporting opportunities arise for the children of Bratton School in the coming months!”
