Residents in Bratton will have a say on how Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) money is spent to improve amenities in the village.
Recent housing developments, including Ashford Homes on Westbury Road, mean Bratton Parish Council has received CIL funding from developers for local improvements.
Projects already funded include upgrades to the village green youth shelter and play equipment.
“So far, the funds have been used for refurbishment where equipment has become worn or damaged over the years, and to fund new amenities identified in Bratton’s Neighbourhood Development Plan,” said Councillor Keith Rayward.
The council is now seeking views on potential improvements at Gales Ground paddock, with three potential ideas drawn up.
The first proposes a tranquil open woodland with seating and picnic tables for walking and relaxation. The second focuses on teenagers and dog owners, including a BMX track, secure dog area, basketball hoop and picnic tables. The third combines both ideas, with cycling access, mown pathways, woodland areas and shelter.
Other suggestions include a basketball hoop and mural boards at the village green and zip wires at Gales Ground.
A parish council spokesperson said, “We currently have £35,500 available and expect a further £18,000 in due course, although it would be prudent to keep some funds in reserve for future projects.”
Some funding has already been earmarked for picnic benches in Reeves Orchard, a cycle rack in the village centre, replacement of the bench at Stradbrook Green, improvements to Millditch allotments and fencing or hedging at Gales Ground. The council has also sanctioned a table tennis table for the village green.
The Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Tuesday 12th May at 6.30pm at the Jubilee Hall, where residents will receive a questionnaire to give their views.
Forms must be returned by Tuesday 26th May. Responses will be considered alongside feedback from the meeting before recommendations are put to a council meeting on Tuesday 9th June.
Additional questionnaires are available at the village shop on Melbourne Street or by emailing parish.chair@brattonparishcouncil.gov.uk.
