Pupils, staff and parents came together at Bratton Primary School this month for their annual harvest festival celebrations.
They were joined by Esther McManus, the minister from Bratton Baptist Church, who gave a talk to the children about the message of coming together to celebrate and appreciate the wonders of what we have and supporting others less fortunate.
Each class performed at the celebration with the Bumblebee Class telling the story of Mr Rabbit and the Lovely Present, the Butterfly Class presenting their harvest-inspired acrostic poem and the Ladybird Class presenting their fruit and vegetable-based artwork.
Children from the Grasshopper Class talked about how we all can protect our planet, and encouraged the audience to reduce, reuse and recycle resources at home and work.
The Hummingbird Class presented their signs of autumn and sang the Harvest Samba, “Much to the delight of all the families and parents watching!” said teacher, Mrs Gurr.
“In addition to all the wonderful class-based presentations and artwork, various harvest festival songs were sung with everyone enjoying the classic song, Conkers, with much applause!”
The school also held a food collection for the Westbury Foodbank. Mrs Gurr said, “Families have been so generous with their kindness, with numerous bags and boxes of food items donated to support other local families.
“What a wonderful way to celebrate all the children’s amazing work for the harvest festival and share the seasonal joy with families, plus give something back to the wider community!”
