THE village of Bratton has been giving generously to the Poppy Appeal, not just during Remembrance tide but throughout the year as well.
Andy Hobbs, landlord of The Duke at Bratton , recently presented Tony Hyde (Poppy Appeal organiser for Bratton) with a cheque for £1,500 in Imber, at the launch of the Wiltshire Poppy Appeal.
This money had been raised by Andy and Lyn during their autumn fundraising weekend at The Duke.
Lt Col Anthony Hyde, Poppy Appeal organiser, Bratton, said, “This set the Bratton appeal off to a very good start, and it has been the most successful Poppy Appeal ever in the village.
“Thanks to the generosity of many, the house-to-house collection was again a record, raising £2,141. Boxes in the shop, The Duke, Pickleberry and the school produced a further £433. Other events have taken the village total to £5,172. A very big thank you to all who gave so generously and to all who helped with the appeal.”
