CAZOO, the online car dealership which employs roughly 150 people locally, has announced they will enter into a consultation period with staff about the potential closure of the Westbury site.
A Cazoo spokesperson denies that any decision on closing the vehicle preparation site has been made as of yet.
But reports on social media suggest that staff have already been informed that the site will close, and redundancy packages have been discussed.
A Cazoo spokesperson said, “We have not made any decisions at this point however we have announced that we will be starting a consultation process with the team at Westbury.
“Before consultation can begin employee representatives must first be appointed, and the requisite statutory information provided to them. From this point, the consultation period will run for 45 days.”
More than 3,000 staff members across the UK are currently being consulted following the closure of Cazoo’s European operations last year.
As announced in their 2022 preliminary financial results and revised 2023 plan, the company revealed it cut its forecasts for 2023 from roughly 65,000 used cars sold in 2022 to just 40,000 this year.
