SCHOOLS in Westbury did their bit for Children in Need last month, with various fundraising activities taking place across the town.
Staff and pupils at Westbury Infants School raised over £120 by coming to school dressed in spots. The children loved seeing the grown ups take part and wear something spotty for the day.
Children in years 5 and 6 at Bitham Brook arranged stalls, competitions, cakes, quizzes and games for all the children to enjoy and raised £330.
Headteacher at Bitham Brook, David Ross said, “It was great to see the older children organise and take care of everything from their initial ideas to following it through into action to make such a great event. There was such a wide range of exciting activities for the whole school to enjoy, the school was really buzzing! I am very proud of them.”
Pupils from Westbury Junior School set up their own fundraising activities from penalty shoot out, to apple bobbing, face painting and guess the sweets in the jar.
Westbury Leigh Primary School dressed up in weird and wacky outfits and Dilton Marsh School took part in a ‘Design a new outfit for Pudsey’ competition organised by Halifax and the children came to school dressed in spots and made a giant Pudsey from 2p’s. Asda Frome also organised a visit from Pudsey to the school and the children were delighted to see him. £426.09 was raised on the day.
