AN online consultation on proposals to change governance arrangements in Westbury and Heywood has been extended to include submissions until Tuesday 27th June.
This is part of the community governance review process, which provides an opportunity to make changes to governance arrangements for town and parish councils, and parish areas. The process ensures that town and parish councils continue to be reflective of the identity and interest of local communities, and that they are as efficient and effective in their governance as can be. The process is overseen by Wiltshire Council’s electoral review committee which also makes recommendations.
In the last issue of the White Horse News in the article, ‘Have your say on town and parish consultation’, information was used from previous community governance draft recommendations that are no longer accurate. Vivash Park is now not part of the proposed changes in this consultation and it would remain in Westbury rather than transferring to Heywood Parish, and a new map has been included to reflect this.
As part of the proposals, it has been put forward that the areas marked as A in the map be transferred from Westbury Town to the parish of Heywood; the area marked as B in the map be transferred from Heywood to Westbury Town, as part of the Westbury East Ward and Westbury North Ward respectively; that the parish of Heywood be unwarded, with seven councillors, and to request that the Local Government Boundary Commission for England amend the Westbury North, Westbury East, and Ethandune electoral divisions to be conterminous with the proposed revised parish boundaries of Westbury and Heywood.
