THE View’s opening weekend event was a sell-out, with visitors enjoying the music, great food, and good times on offer at Jordan Daykin’s new-look venue on the edge of Westbury.
The launch weekend kicked off on Friday 25th attracting hundreds of people to the revamped venue, found at the White Horse Country Park on Coach Road.
Visitors were treated to live DJ sets and a pizza shack, which served food for hungry patrons until 2am.
Jordan Daykin, the owner of The View, said “The event was fantastic, we had in excess of 250 people attend! Everyone seemed very excited about the new look bar. It’s been great to see so much support from the local community.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came and supported our launch, we were blown away by the response. Also, a big thank you to all our staff who worked so hard, especially with such a great turn out of attendees.”
Jordan added, “We have big plans coming up! Next, we are launching our venue in May which is capable of holding weddings of up to 250 people (160 seated). Then our a la carte restaurant will follow in the summer. Our Gin Festival is coming up on 28th May and has amazing local bands and also the Artful Dodger and Scouting for Girls!
The White Horse News spoke to local visitors to The View, who had come along to support the opening weekend. Sarah Smith said, “It’s great to finally have something new in the town as there’s very little to do in Westbury at a weekend.
“The View has everything – great tasting food, loads of tasty drinks and of course some stunning views of the local area. I think what’s most important is that it’s finally given people somewhere to go at the weekends, rather than venturing to Bath or Bristol every weekend – finally, we all have good local options!”
Val Cook, who lives in Westbury added, “I just think it’s great that a local person has the initiative and forward thinking to make Westbury a more desirable place to visit. Events like tonight and the upcoming gin festival really help put the town on the map and it’s clearly working, as there’s people from all over the county here.
“We’ve never had a place like this; we have events with local musicians in the past but The View is bringing more national artists to our tiny town. I’m really impressed with the transformation of this venue and I’ll be coming back, that’s for sure.
“Westbury needed something vibrant, and this is the kind of fresh thing that people in the town have been calling out for.”
The View also run eight-seater shuttle buses every Friday and Saturday evening to the surrounding areas; (Westbury is £10, Trowbridge is £12, Warminster is £15 and Melksham is £20). Tickets are one-way, but if the bus is full with eight passengers, the price is reduced.
Another visitor to The View’s launch weekend, Andy Milburn from Trowbridge said, “I know Covid messed up the plans for the place and it’s been shut for so long, but looking at how busy it is here tonight, it’s mental to see how far it’s come!
“The venue is completely full and the drinks are endless. One of the problems we had previously was getting to and from the venue when you’ve had a few drinks; but now thanks to that shuttle bus, it’s easier than ever, I can get dropped off right at to my door!
The next event at The View is the Gin Festival on the 28th May and you can grab your ticket now by visiting The View’s Facebook Page (The View Westbury) or searching Gin Festival The View on Eventbrite.
