DR Andrew Murrison MP will continue to represent the people of Westbury, having been re-elected in the general election on Thursday 8th June.
Andrew Murrison MP, who has been the Conservative MP for the area since 2001, was re-elected for the South West Wiltshire constituency with 32,841 votes, giving him 60% of the vote; an increase from 2015 which saw him get 53% of the vote.
“I would like to thank Westbury residents for their support at the general election,” he said. “It has always been a privilege to represent the town and surrounding villages.
“There will be lots of twists and turns in the months and years ahead but, with a healthy and growing economy, the outlook is good both locally and nationally.
“I look forward to supporting the government in every way possible to get what’s right for Westbury, Wiltshire and for the country.”
The result in full was: Cons, Andrew Murrison, 32,841 (60%); Labour, Laura Pictor, 14,515 (26.5%); Lib Dems, Trevor Carbin, 5,360 (9.8%); Green Party, Christopher Walford, 1,445 (2.6%); Independent, Liam Silcocks, 590 (1.1%).
