THE VIEW, formerly White Horse Country Park, is hosting a family fun day and under-tens sponsored walk to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, on Sunday 20th March at 1pm-6pm.
The sponsored ‘memorable walk for memory loss’ is roughly 2.5k and will follow a route around the country park. After the event, there will be a family fun day at The View’s play area, with a free barbecue and ice cream for all children involved in the walk.
Money raised will be split 50/50 with Alzheimer’s Research UK and a Wiltshire-based care home, Buckland Court in Amesbury. Organisers are hoping to present the home with a cheque after the event. The event is free and raffle and tombola tickets will be on sale soon from the event Facebook page, ‘Memorable Walk for Memory Loss’ https://www.facebook.com/events/3178373335779044/?active_tab=discussion
Organisers say, “So many people and families are affected by this disease. The home we are wanting to support has a day centre attached which has been closed for over two years and is in need of a makeover to bring it back to life. This will enable so many families and sufferers of dementia/ Alzheimer’s to have the support or respite they so desperately need.
“We are looking for volunteers to take part in the walk, and families to join in the fun, or if anyone has anything they could also bring to the event such as face painting. A raffle will be drawn on the day with various prizes – all donations from companies such as M&S, Joules, Morrisons, Center Parcs and loads more.
“Refreshments include an ice cream van and barbecue, along with a bouncy castle and play park for the children to enjoy, plus a bar.”
Organisers are still looking for local companies to donate raffle prizes to get involved, as well as any children’s entertainers that want to help out. Raffle tickets will be on sale soon and on the day.
