GRASSACRES Hall opened its doors to the local community earlier this month for a free family-friendly lunch and people from across the area came together to enjoy the wide range of free food on offer.
The event was organised by Abraham’s Kitchen and was supported on the day by Westbury councillors and volunteers from the Westbury Area Network who run the town’s food bank and community fridge. The town council says that following the success of the event they are considering holding another free family-friendly community lunch in October.
The town council says, “Feedback received from guests said the food was varied and tasty, the venue was welcoming and friendly, and guests would recommend this type of event to their family and friends.
“Unfortunately, after a wet start to the day, guests couldn’t take their buffet style lunch into the park but Westbury Area Network, who ran the event on behalf of Abraham’s Kitchen and the town council, set up some tables outside of the hall so guests could still enjoy the sunshine. A further event is planned for the October school holidays and more details will be available nearer the time.”
One of the guests who attended the lunch added, “This is a really good idea and it’s great to see so many people get involved. This is the first time we’ve come to one of these community lunches and we’re kicking ourselves that we didn’t come to the previous ones.”
Grassacres Hall is available for hire for parties and events with an hourly rate of just £10 – for more information call 07816 991960.
