MAKE a difference and raise cash for charity, simply by drinking coffee and eating cake this Friday!
Macmillan Cancer Support is hosting its ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ with fundraisers around the country serving up coffee and tea and cake, all in aid of the charity.
From 10.00am on Friday 27th September, join Westbury Mayor, cllr David Windess for his coffee morning at the Laverton. He said, “Come along and have a tea or coffee and cake and help raise some money for a cause that is close to us all, and stay and have a natter!”
Leigh Park Community Centre will host a coffee morning with stalls and a raffle, with all donations going to Macmillan.
Barclays in Westbury High Street will also be holding an event for Macmillan.
Meanwhile, sixth form students at Matravers School will be hosting their coffee morning on Friday 27th September, 10.30am-12.00noon, in aid of local hospice, Dorothy House. By donating £2 (free for under 11s), people can get a cup of tea, a piece of cake and the opportunity to take part in a raffle, a quiz and listen to music.
Dorothy House Hospice community fundraiser, Yvonne Brunton, says it is great to see young people organizing something so simple but will raise much-needed funds for the hospice.
“Students are really busy, particularly those just embarking on their A-levels or preparing for their exams next summer, so it’s fantastic that a number of Matravers students have decided to run an event that really is ‘a piece of cake’ in every sense of the phrase.
“We would urge more schools and colleges to consider running fundraising events – they are great team builders and of course help boost Dorothy House funds.”
