Micro chipping is now recognised as the most effective and secure way of permanently identifying your pet.
And from 6th April 2016 your dog must be microchipped by law.
“This is a very simple and painless procedure, just like an injection,” says local veterinary practise, Garston Vets in Westbury Market Place. “The Microchip is slightly larger than a grain of rice and sits safely and comfortably under your pet’s skin for life. Once inserted each tracer microchip has a unique code which is linked to the national 24 hour Petlog database.
“Most vets, animal charities and local authorities will have a scanner to read the tracer and retrieve your pet’s details.
“No anaesthetic is required and the procedure should cause no more discomfort than a standard vaccination.”
During September and October Garston Veterinary Group will be implanting microchips for £10. For more information visit them at 7 Market Place, call 01373 301448 or email enquiries@garstonvets.co.uk
