A packed weekend of events is planned at Holy Trinity Church in Dilton Marsh on 14th and 15th June, including a historical exhibition, community knitting for Ukraine, and celebrations for the church’s Patronal Festival.
The exhibition will explore the history of the church, with displays detailing the planning and fundraising that led to its construction and consecration on 29th September 1844. Visitors can also learn about the stories behind the stained-glass windows, church silver and bells.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 14th June, and from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 15th June.
Also on Saturday 14th June, the church will take part in ‘World Wide Knit in Public Day’ between 10am and 3pm. The Woolly Wednesday group, who meet at the Weaver pub, will be joined by local residents outside the church to knit or crochet squares for blankets, which will be sent to people in Ukraine. Refreshments will be available, and participants are asked to bring their own lunch, chair, knitting needles or crochet hooks, and wool.
On Sunday 15th June, the church will celebrate its Patronal Festival with a service of Holy Communion at 9.30am, followed by ‘Hymns and Pimms’ at 6pm.
